About The Event
As featured on BBC Two's My Million Pound Menu, Burmese Kitchen has been heavily influenced by cooking my mother's recipes. As it's Mother's Day, I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate her memory than to cook a three course meal of her favourite dishes for you to enjoy.
Potato curry parcels deep fried and then cut up and tossed in a Burmese salad of tomatoes, cabbage and onions.
The most famous dish of Burma (usually eaten for breakfast) – a fish stew with rice noodles served with all the trimmings: yellow split pea crackers (beh kyaw), hardboiled eggs, coriander, chili flakes and a wedge of lime
My mother loved eating American style pancakes on the weekend. Here is my twist on it made with Coconut and served with a warm Jaggery Butter and blueberry compote
Burma is famous for their teahouses which can be found on every corner. My mother would rarely be seen without a teacup in hand. This sweet milky tea will be served just the way my parents loved it.
Note: As we are hosting this at the amazing Darjeeling Express restaurant, it will not be BYOB but drinks will be available for purchase there.
Dietary restrictions - Apologies due to the nature of the food I can not cater to specific dietary issues but happy to offer a Vegetarian meal if requested
